Safety Issues

The New Year is a good time to think about updating your safety skills. The Fire Department offers CPR classes, and look for their Second Alarm safety videos on the City’s Cable Channel 5. The Sheriff’s Department has Crime Prevention Tips and a Driver’s Safety Education Program. Pet safety is covered by SCRAPS. For the “big picture”, check out Spokane Prepares for emergency preparedness and disaster planning. - Spokane Government Librarian

The Spokane County Traffic Safety Commission is a source for winter driving tips for those who have to be out on the roads. Check out the regional traffic cameras for real-time conditions. - Spokane Government Librarian

The second installment of many homeowners’ property taxes are due October 31st. The Parcel Information Search gives you the assessed value of your home, your property taxes, and recent sales data. You can look up any address in Spokane County. Type in the street number and name (no direction) and choose the correct address from the results. This is also a good place to discover when your home was built and basic house characteristics. - Spokane Government Librarian
