Storytimes at South Hill

Hi guys! It’s Monica, the Youth Services Librarian at the South Hill Library. I just wanted to remind everyone that the new Storytime schedules for South Hill and Shadle don’t begin until January 1st 2009.  Until December 31st we continue to have storytime at South Hill and Shadle on Thursdays and Fridays; Toddler Time at 10:00 AM and Preschool at 10:30. On January 1st South Hill will have Storytime on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 (Toddler) and 10:30 (Preschool). Shadle will have Storytimes on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 (Toddler) and 10:30 (Preschool).

Come to the Downtown Library tomorrow Oct 18 at 11:00am in the children’s area to hear some monster stories and then build you own monster.

Summer Reading is Underway!

Have you signed up for Summer Reading yet? If not, you still have plenty of time to sign up, read 15 books, or 15 hours and add your name to the wall of finishers and claim your paperback book.

Grumpy Bird

Everyone’s had at least one grumpy day, so it’s easy to relate to Grumpy Bird by Jeremy Tankard. One day he wakes up too grumpy to fly! So he sets off walking and along the way he runs into friends who don’t seem to understand that he wants to be ALONE. Eventually he discovers that friends can ease away grumpiness and cheer him up. Just to add to the fun, there’s a surprise at the end that will astonish the attentive reader.

Kitchen Table Science at Shadle

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Join us at the Shadle library at 11:00 for Kitchen Table Science. Chemistry students from Spokane Community College will be showing us the chemistry that takes place in our very own homes!

Bruce Hale is coming to visit South Hill!

Hello! It’s Monica again, the Youth Services Librarian at the South Hill Branch library. Did you know that children’s literature author Bruce Hale is coming to visit the South Hill library next week? He is! He will be here after school on Tuesday March 11th at 4:00.

Bruce Hale is the author of the “Chet Gecko” series which includes the book “The Malted Falcon“.

So come on down to the South Hill Library on Tuesday and join us for this special event!
