Storytimes on break

Tuesday, November 24, 2009 – 12:33 am

A few years ago we started offering year-round storytime instead of taking storytimes breaks each season. We’re able to do this through the use of trained volunteers to help deliver storytimes. This way our children’s librarians can take a day off occasionally and not worry about storytime.  That said we do still take a storytime break during two weeks of the year - Thanksgiving and Christmas.  These are traditionally very low attendance weeks and scheduling staff and volunteers is more difficult due to people traveling, etc. Please join us next week for storytime and look forward to some special Teddy Bear Tea storytimes that we host in December.

Jenks in concert Hoopfest Saturday

Thursday, June 25, 2009 – 9:47 pm

Jenks dancing! If you’re downtown for Hoopfest and in between games then stop in the Downtown Library at 11:00 am for a great concert by Jenks.  This kid’s music band has a lot of appeal for adults as well and the lead singer, Corey Jenkins is also a fabulous juggler! This is a great way to get off the streets and take a break from basketball. The way kids jump while dancing to this band is almost like going up for a jump shot.
