Everyone’s had at least one grumpy day, so it’s easy to relate to Grumpy Bird by Jeremy Tankard. One day he wakes up too grumpy to fly! So he sets off walking and along the way he runs into friends who don’t seem to understand that he wants to be ALONE. Eventually he discovers that friends can ease away grumpiness and cheer him up. Just to add to the fun, there’s a surprise at the end that will astonish the attentive reader.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Join us at the Shadle library at 11:00 for Kitchen Table Science. Chemistry students from Spokane Community College will be showing us the chemistry that takes place in our very own homes!
Hello! It’s Monica again, the Youth Services Librarian at the South Hill Branch library. Did you know that children’s literature author Bruce Hale is coming to visit the South Hill library next week? He is! He will be here after school on Tuesday March 11th at 4:00.
Bruce Hale is the author of the “Chet Gecko” series which includes the book “The Malted Falcon“.

Hi guys! This is Monica, South Hill’s Youth Services Librarian here to let you know that I will be on a break from South Hill storytimes this week and next week.
Thursday March 6th and Thursday March 13th Chris LeMieux (Y.S. Librarian of the Hillyard, Indian Trail, and East Side branches) will be filling in for me. On Friday March 7th and March 14th Storytime Substitute Dave Liezen will be filling in. They are both wonderful and have substituted here many times in the past.
I will miss you! But will be back in a couple of weeks. See you then!
More than 50 people joined in to celebrate the Fairy Chronicles books by J.H. Sweet, make their own wand, and enjoy a fairy treat. Jill read the second chapter of Marigold and the Feather of Hope and explained that “brownies” aren’t always a yummy chocolatey treat. We had such great response to doing storytime for most of the year in 2007 that we are offering even more storytime in 2008! Storytime will be happening at your local branch of Spokane Public Library every week in 2008 except the week of Thanksgiving in November, and the week of Christmas in December.
