According to www.irs.gov , mailed Stimulus Checks may take until approximately May 21st to arrive in your mailbox.

If you have any questions about your payment, please call the toll-free Rebate Hotline at
1-866-234-2942.

http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html

For Social Security numbers ending in 00 through 09, the paper checks will be mailed starting May 9 and will continue through May 16. Please allow additional delivery time, perhaps 3 to 5 days (until May 21), since the paper checks are being sent through the mail.

A small percentage of tax returns will require additional time to process and to compute a stimulus payment amount. For these returns, stimulus payments may not be issued in accordance with the schedule above, even if the tax return was processed by April 15.

Eligibility for the Stimulus Checks:
These people may be eligible to receive a Stimulus Check if they had at least $3,000 of qualifying income: those who receive Social Security benefits or veterans’ disability compensation, pension or survivors’ benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2007. Qualifying income includes Social Security benefits, certain Railroad Retirement benefits, certain veterans’ benefits and earned income, such as income from wages, salaries, tips and self-employment. For people filing joint tax returns, only a total of $3,000 of qualifying income from both spouses is required to be eligible for a payment.

I am confused by conflicting opinions. Will retired seniors who haven't been required to fill in the last few years receive a check too? I was advised to file and I did file in March 2008. My last 2 numbers of SS# is 02 which I've been told will be receiving the check the 2nd week of May. It didn't come. Anyone know about eligibility of medically disabled seniors?

Facts about the 2008 Stimulus Payments - Exclusions:
"Stimulus payments will be subject to offset against outstanding tax and non-tax liabilities in the same fashion as regular tax refunds."

http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=179095,00.html

It appears that your stimulus check may be reduced by the amount you owe for 2006. But, on the plus side, if you file for 2007, what you owe for 2006 may therefore be reduced by the stimulus check. http://www.irs.gov/index.html

The definition of a qualifying child is the one used for purposes of claiming the child tax credit outlined by the IRS regulations.

Specifically, the child must be under age 17 as of December 31 and be the taxpayer's qualifying child for dependency exemption deduction purposes.

A qualifying child, for purposes of the stimulus check, generally is a child who was under age 17 at the end of 2007, did not provide over one-half of his or her own support, lived with you for more than one-half of 2007, and has a Social Security Number.

To qualify, a child must be under age 17 as of Dec. 31, 2007.

For more information about the subject of a “qualifying child”, call 1-866-234-2942.

Why is it that parents can't claim their children until they reach the age of 18 years old. I have twins that will graduate from high school in May of 2008, but they turned 18 on March 2, 2008, I am still responsible for them until they graduate, why is it that the government stop you from claiming them at the age of 17? I am asingle parent and this is just not a fair system.
