Demographics galore
Tuesday, February 12, 2008 – 4:38 pmIn the business world, current and accurate demographics are key. And expensive. Or so it was until the Library subscribed to a new database, Demographics Now. Spanning the entire nation, Demographics Now provides incredibly detailed information on consumer spending, income, household details and more… To access the database from outside the library, you will need a valid Spokane Public Library card number.

Demographics now is a wonderful system to find what you need, but if what you need is more than may I suggest your local Small Business Development Center. You can find your local SBDC at SBA.gov. This will put you in touch with competent business counselors who are dedicated to your needs. It will also put you in touch with the Small Business Development Center National Information Clearinghouse. This entity provides small business research free of charge to counselors for clients, so you must see a SBDC counselor to you this free information entity. They reside in San Antoniop Texas at UTSA. Here is the website http://www.sbdcnet.org/. Check it out, they provide business research for the entire USA and USA held territories. It may be just what you need to get your business started and it is a free service provided by the SBA and Small BUsiness Development Centers throughout America.

Charles –
Thanks for the contribution. And indeed, the SBDC is a great place to turn for additional assistance. At www.spokanelibrary.org/business under the heading of Local Agencies, we have put together a list of organizations that provide business assistance in one form or another. This list includes the local SBDC. I will look into the SBDC’s CNIC and see if it would be a good addition to the library’s list of resources. Thanks again!
